The ELC staff and P1 teachers work closely to ensure that nursery children have a smooth transition into school. We work closely with the Denny Cluster nurserries on a joint transtion topic which continues into your child's Primary1 experience. 

Our children visit the school regularly to find out what is happening in the school and to play with the current P1 pupils in the play area. They also use the school gym hall, the library and the school playground.

The P1 teachers visit the ELC to get to know pupils in their own environment. The teachers and support for learning assistants then become familiar adults which helps the transition to school life.

Our children enjoy regular play times in the Infant playgroup alongside school pupils and with the support of their 'Buddies'. In addition, their Buddies visit the ELC daily throughout the final term to play alongside our Pre-schoolers, getting to know them in their environment where they feel comfortable and safe.

Families will be invited to 'Stay and Play' with their child prior to them starting school to help them to become familiar with their new environment whilst being supported by a family memeber. Our children will also be welcomed to our lunch hall for a lunchtime transition visit to enjoy an luchtime experience in our dinner hall. 

In addition, we link with all relevant feeder schools for our children to help support a smooth transition.
